Drive down any street and all eyes are on the 2012 Rio 5-door, the latest Kia to express the award-winning design esthetic of Peter Schreyer, Kia’s internationally celebrated Chief Design Officer. Blending the smooth, chiseled lines of the upscale Kia Optima with the practical and muscular cues of the Kia Sportage, the 2012 Rio 5-door signals a new era of sophistication in sub-compact car styling.
FORWARD-SLOPING BELTLINE
The Rio 5-door’s beltline slopes strongly downward from the rear, conveying movement and forward motion even when the car is standing still.
POWER-FOLDING SIDE MIRRORS
Power-folding mirrors with integrated LED turn signals were a hallmark of luxury cars. We say “were” because they’re now available on the Rio 5-door EX.
LED TAILLIGHTS
Distinctive, LED taillights are standard on the Rio 5-door EX Luxury – a feature typically found on luxury vehicles.
BOLD, 17” ALLOY WHEELS
The Rio 5-door EX Luxury model features robust and dynamic 17” alloy wheels that fill the wheel housings for a sporty and low-to-the-ground performance look.

UVO POWERED BY MICROSOFT
UVO — short for “your voice” — is Kia’s remarkable new audio infotainment system. Available on Rio 5-door EX models, UVO gives you hands-free, voice-activated control of your music sources and cell phone.1 Its voice recognition software “learns” your voice and stores up to two individual voice profiles. It also includes a digital jukebox with an in-dash hard drive to store your favourite songs.
KEYLESS CONVENIENCE
Kia’s Smart Key system lets you unlock the vehicle and start the engine without having to search your pockets or purse for a key. It’s standard on Rio 5-door EX Luxury models.
CHILL BUSTERS
Heated front seats help take the chill out of winter driving. They’re standard on Rio 5-door EX models and optional on the Rio 5-door LX.

The greatest pleasure of all is knowing you’re safe in a Rio 5-door. That’s why it comes with a full array of standard safety features, including six airbags, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and an impact-sensing system that automatically unlocks the doors following a collision, making it easier for first-responders to assist you. All this is wrapped in a rigid, reinforced body structure for added crash protection.
COMMAND CENTRAL
Keeping two hands on the wheel is the safest way to drive. So Rio 5-door comes with standard, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and available Bluetooth® and cruise control switches for safety and convenience.
REAR PARKING CAMERA
A standard rear-facing camera shows you a wide-angle view of the area behind your Rio 5-door EX with UVO or EX Luxury whenever you shift into reverse. It makes parking safer and easier than ever.
MAXIMUM STABILITY
Using selective brake and engine intervention, Rio 5-door’s standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) help you maintain better control in emergency manoeuvres and slippery driving conditions.
ALWAYS FOG-FREE
Rio 5-door EX Luxury models come with an advanced auto defog system that senses condensation buildup on the inside of the windshield and automatically activates to clear it.

Rio 5-door features Kia’s newest 1.6-litre gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine, combining quick-to-respond acceleration with quiet, fuel-efficient performance. There are no compromises here.
6-SPEED PERFORMANCE
Rio 5-door gives you a choice of six-speed transmissions – manual or automatic – engineered for smoothness and fuel-efficiency. The automatic includes a Steptronic manual-shift mode for a sportier driving experience.
ACTIVE ECO
What if you could just push a button to save fuel? You can with Rio 5-door’s Active ECO System. It automatically optimizes the engine and transmission control systems to reduce fuel consumption and it’s standard on LX and EX models with the 6-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
