Z-fold Soft Top

Change the atmosphere of your drive in seconds, literally. Go from controlled climate to topless with a Z-fold soft top that stows in as little as two seconds. Thanks to the convenient central release lever, you can easily-yet-securely lock or release the convertible top without getting out of the driver’s seat. The aerodynamically designed convertible top adds little weight to the vehicle and, when lowered, collapses into its own compartment for a tight fit that doesn’t reduce your 5.3 cubic feet of trunk space.

Using the “gram strategy” and ultra-high-tensile steel, Mazda engineers made the MX-5 lightweight and perfectly balanced without reducing the strength and integrity of the body’s construction. All trims are equipped with advanced dual front airbags with a passenger-side deactivation switch and dual side impact airbags.

Anti-theft Features

The standard engine immobilizer anti-theft system helps protect your vehicle by requiring a properly coded key to start the engine. If a counterfeit key is used, the engine will not start. Available as an accessory or part of the Premium Package, the perimeter alarm system helps to deter potential damage or theft of your Miata while parked.

When the perfectionism of Maserati meets the adrenalin of Maserati Corse the result is the perfect mix of elegance and power, the epitome of beauty and sport: the GranTurismo MC Stradale’s bodywork is the perfect blend of aerodynamics and aesthetics. At 200 km/h the aerodynamic load is 25% greater at the front and 50% greater at the rear compared to the GranTurismo.

Lines designed to cut the air
Its streamlined body, the result of Maserati’s experience on the racetrack, ensures that the GranTurismo MC Stradale stands out for its refined design, while reaching the highest speeds with unbeatable aerodynamics. Overall, the MC Stradale is 48 mm longer than the GranTurismo and is 10 mm closer to the ground at the front and 12 mm at the rear.

The LED front light assemblies emphasise the body’s look of feline power
At first glance, it is clear that the GranTurismo MC Stradale is a pedigree sports car: the front light assemblies feature new LED day lights and make the front end even more aggressive, while the tail lights have an unusual burnished finish. The hood has two engine cooling air intakes, while the side bands under the doors are broader and lower.

High, central exhausts, MC-Design 20” rims: breathtaking design features
The exhausts are higher and nearer to the centre of the car with the tailpipes carved into the rear bumper to allow the air to flow from underneath the vehicle more effectively. The final touch in terms of style lies in the special 20-inch MC-Design rims: manufactured using flow-forming technology, not only are they lightweight, they also feature the unmistakable Trident symbol on their double spokes.

Interiors

A no-frills two-seater designed for the track that offers luxury and comfort
The MC Stradale is the only two-seater in the current Maserati range. The rear seats were eliminated to reduce its weight and to underline the concept that this is first and foremost a driver’s car. In the front, the new body-hugging seats provide the torso and legs with perfect support during high-speed cornering on the race track, as well as all the comfort needed for long road journeys.

The ultra-lightweight body-hugging seats are made from high-tech materials
As well as guaranteeing outstanding support in all driving conditions, the two seats fitted in the interior are ultra-lightweight thanks to a skilful combination of high-tech materials for the padding and upholstery, which is a mix of sports leather and Alcantara®. The rear shell frame is carbon fibre and the seats feature manual forward-backward and seatback angle adjustment.

Lighter-than-leather Alcantara dominates the interior
The design of the dashboard fits with the car’s sporty philosophy: the luxury chrome detailing of the GranTurismo has been replaced with a look dominated by the colour black to give the car the feel of a cockpit. Alcantara®, which is lighter than leather, is used for the central console, the armrest compartment cover, the door panel armrests, the handles and the instrument panel brow.

Thrills at your fingertips with the Sport and Race buttons on the console
The man-car interface is a major feature of the interior. Such a high performance car requires an immediate, intuitive interface: the central console now includes the Sport and Race buttons, allowing the car’s handling to be optimised for different conditions. The instrument panel display includes the “MC-R” reading, indicating that high-speed gear shifting has been enabled.

The new three-spoke steering-wheel, upholstered in leather and Alcantara®, has been redesigned for improved control and a more ergonomic grip; the upper and lower sections have also been flattened for better clearance. The evolution of the interior has also transformed the instrument panel, where Maserati’s traditional blue background has been replaced by black, with completely new white graphics.

Technology

Architecture and technology borrowed from the world of racing
Although conceived as a road car, the GranTurismo MC Stradale is as exciting and powerful as a racing car. This is due to its engine, more powerful than ever, its significantly reduced overall weight, its innovative carbon ceramic brake system and its improved suspension. The tyres also come from the world of racing to offer optimum performance, even on the circuit.

The V8 engine generates 460 HP, responsive to every touch on the accelerator
The GranTurismo MC Stradale’s latest incarnation of the 4.7L V8 features new mapping and new reinforced pistons, improvements which yield increased power (460 HP at 7,000 rpm), while torque delivery is now a breathtaking 520 Nm at 4,750 rpm, reflecting all the agility and power of a unique engine that can propel the car past the 300 km/h barrier with ease.

The new MC Race mode makes the car even more aggressive and responsive
While the GranTurismo offers five electronic handling modes, the MC Stradale has three: Auto, Sport and the exclusive “MC Race”. This setup is unique to this model, and is activated by pressing the “Race” button on the dashboard. This is all it takes to make the car even more aggressive and sporty, and the six-speed gearbox allows lightning-fast gear shifts in just 60 milliseconds.

The suspension setting is lower, with stiffer springs
The setting of the MC Stradale’s suspension is 10 mm lower and has been completely redesigned with the aid of racetrack technology. The springs have been made 8% stiffer at both front and rear and the stabiliser bar diameter has been increased from 24 to 25 mm at the front and from 21 to 23 mm at the rear to reduce the roll angle and optimise handling.

Lighter and peerless braking distances thanks to Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes
Subjected to the most severe testing on the most famous circuits, the Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes weigh around 60% less than conventional discs of the same size. The front is equipped with 380 x 34 mm ventilated discs, operated by a powerful six-piston caliper. The rear disks measure 360 x 32 mm, with a four-piston caliper. The stopping distance is just 33 metres at 100 km/h, with an average deceleration of 1.2 g.

Rollbar and four point safety harness available on request
The racing pedigree and sporting heritage of the new GranTurismo MC Stradale can be emphasised with optionals taken from the world of racing, like the rollcage (safety cell with roll bar) mounted on the car, clad in special Alcantara® upholstery and available together with the four point safety harnesses on offer in three colours (dark blue, black and red), or the MC Sport Line tooled aluminium pedals, complete with footrest on the left.

Trims for added prestige
The prestige of the car’s exterior can be enhanced by a custom trim with a large Maserati Trident angled at 45° on the roof (in red or grey) or the side panel personalization kit. This involves the application of the MC Stradale logo and stripes (in red or grey) on both sides to highlight the car’s sophisticated lines and streamlined vents.

Finishes in high-tech materials
The mouldings are finished as standard in Nero Soft, a finish which recalls the atmosphere inside a racing car, while high-technology composites such as carbon fibre, AluTex and TitanTex are available on request. What’s more, the top of the interior can be made even more elegant with an optional Alcantara® roof lining.

A kit for the racetrack
To provide the driver with everything he needs for driving on the track, the car can be equipped with a fire extinguisher behind the front seat – just like on Maserati racing cars – and the optional race kit with its fire retardant competition overalls and certified gloves in a special bag. The perfect driver’s equipment kit can be completed with a helmet hand-decorated with Maserati graphics.

Aerodynamic research has created a unique silhouette, styled by the wind
The Maserati engineers have introduced a series of changes on the GranCabrio MC aimed at enhancing the car’s aerodynamic efficiency without compromising its innate class and elegance. Features developed for the GranTurismo MC Stradale two-seater coupé have been adapted to the needs of a sleek convertible like the GranCabrio: features masterfully combined that help to create a unique silhouette, styled by the wind.

Elegance and sportiness in the black details of the Shadow Line version
The front is dominated by the traditional Maserati oval grille featuring black vertical fillets and a Trident with red mouldings in the centre. In line with the image of the Shadow Line version with its many black exterior details, the new front lights come in a feisty matt black, while the LED tail lights sport an exclusive burnished finish.

The high tailpipes leave room for a very pronounced extractor profile
At the rear, the tailpipes are positioned higher and more centrally to leave space for the bottom of the bumpers, which improves the extraction of airflow from underneath the car. The spoiler incorporates a third brake light and produces downforce at high speeds. The dynamic look created by the lines is also emphasised by the 20” MC Design wheels, which are not only lighter, but also sport the traditional Maserati Trident, which has skilfully been incorporated into their double spokes.

The original pearly white colour recalls the triumphs of the mythical Birdcage
The functional, aggressive look of the body is enhanced by unique details like the new Bianco Birdcage three-layer paint finish: with its unusual blue tints, this colour seems to change all the time. A striking effect that is a nod in the direction of the white and blue-striped trim that was the hallmark of the Tipo 61 Birdcage, a car that competed successfully in the top US championships in the early Sixties.

Interior

The ideal place to find out what an open-top sporty drive really means
Hands on the sporty steering wheel, fingers ready to caress the gear shift paddles, right foot ready to unleash the acceleration that the V8 engine is growling to deliver. All the while soaking up the surrounding environment – the sun and the sky but also the luxurious, sporty cabin with its superbly ergonomic design. Travelling in the GranCabrio MC is truly a unique experience.

The racing-style seats with integrated headrest evoke the beauty of the exterior
The design of the new wraparound sports seats echoes the elegant lines of the exterior: even with the roof up, the car’s major stylistic innovations cannot fail to catch the eye. The headrests integrated into the seat backs, embossed with the Maserati logo, sit atop larger, more comfortable seats that also provide better restraint during sports driving.

A steering-wheel covered with unique materials for absolute control
The new three-spoke sports steering-wheel incorporates the multifunction control buttons for the on-board devices and has a more heavily profiled grip. Available in leather and Alcantara®, leather-only or leather and carbon fibre, it reflects the Maserati engineers’ focus on optimising the use of space: the top and bottom of the rim are flattened for an even more compact look.

The gear-shift paddles and pedals are an extension of the driver’s will
Peeking out from behind the steering wheel are the new, longer Trofeo Design gear-shift paddles: firmly connected to the steering column, they are available in carbon fibre on request and are designed to ensure maximum control over gear changes even on the most winding of roads. The accelerator and brake pedals, meanwhile, come in perforated aluminium as standard to ensure optimum grip and improved handling in all conditions.

Alcantara in combination with leather for an adrenalin-filled interior
Those in search of an even more adrenalin-filled interior will be delighted with the Alcantara® package, inspired by the typical upholstery of racing cars. Lighter than leather, this high-tech material can be used to clad a large proportion of the interior: from the brow above the instrument panel to the central armrest and the door panel/handle armrest, through to the central part of the dashboard and the central tunnel.

High-tech solutions that strengthen the concept of an open-top sporty drive
The GranCabrio MC turns heads instantly thanks to its stunning design that combines aerodynamics developed on the track with unrivalled elegance. Yet the technological solutions that make Maserati’s sportiest cabriolet of all a truly unique car actually lie below its handsome exterior. The famous Maserati V8 engine is controlled by an auto-adaptive six-speed gearbox, which detects and responds to the driving style and road conditions, while the suspension has a special setting.

V8 engine: roaring aggression or docility at the touch of the accelerator
The heart of the GranCabrio MC is the legendary 4.7 litre V8 engine. In keeping with the Maserati tradition, this engine features a series of innovations that make it incredibly powerful and flexible, so it can guarantee the smoothest of rides, not to mention excitement in spades, whenever the driver demands. Excitement delivered through amazing performance: 460  HP, top speed of 289 km/h.

The gearbox’s MC Auto Shift functions make the car even more fun to drive
The six-speed automatic gearbox features auto-adaptive software that automatically responds to the driving style and conditions, adapting the gearshifting mode accordingly. It uses MC Auto Shift technology, which operates in a variety of ways depending on the situation, making driving even more satisfying: in manual mode, the gear can be changed at any rpm up to the limiter actuation point.

The suspension has a special setup with stiffer dampers
The wishbone suspension system features a specific set-up with more rigid dampers and springs, while the Sport Skyhook system with continuously variable dampers is available as an option. When the Sport button is pressed, the car becomes more precise and reactive, but continues to absorb bumps in the road as it adapts to any conditions. The Maserati Stability Program (MSP) ensures more freedom of action.

Innovative Brembo dual-cast brakes ensure immediate response
The braking system makes the most of Brembo dual-cast technology with discs crafted from cast iron and aluminium. This brings the weight down by 15% to 20%, whilst also offering enhanced performance and less overall wear. The system comprises six-piston monobloc calipers up front and a four-piston unit in the rear, teamed with drilled, slotted discs: this particular design gives more predictable braking performance and reduces braking distance, especially on wet surfaces.

Personalization

Every GranCabrio MC is a clear expression of its driver’s style
Fine materials like Poltrona Frau® leather, Alcantara® and carbon fibre come together in the GranCabrio MC to offer endless combinations: the customisation options extend to the smallest of details and include the leather, stitching, mats and mouldings, allowing each client to create an exclusive, made-to-measure car.

Bodywork, soft-top and brake calipers: mechanics become design in motion
On such a sporty convertible, it is appropriate that mechanical details play a major role on the design front: as well as the wide choice of bodywork colour combinations – including the special pearly Bianco Birdcage – and the soft-top, the brake calipers, clearly visible behind the 20” wheels, can also be personalised: there are no less than ten shades available, two of them matt.

Alcantara creates luxurious interiors, with soft high-tech sensations
The Alcantara® package is a fine match for the car’s extremely dynamic look: already used with success on the GranTurismo MC Stradale, it allows various areas of the interior (instrumentation brow, central armrest, door panel/handle armrest, centre of dashboard and central tunnel) to be finished in a material that is lighter than leather and both luxurious and sporty at the same time.

More versions to meet the most diverse of requirements
The decorations on the dashboard, door panels and rear side panels are finished in Dark Chrome as standard, which combines anthracite grey with a warm gleam, or the new EcoChrome, a colour reminiscent of the glow of molten metal. The GranCabrio MC has a really racy personality but there are also choice woods or lacquered shades available for those in search of more sophisticated finishes.

Carbon dominates the MC Sport Line customised packages
There are a number of different MC Sport Line customisation packages, with ample use of carbon fibre detailing both inside and outside the car, to enhance the sporty look and feel of the GranCabrio MC to varying degrees. For the exterior, these packages also include the striking 20” shiny black Neptune Design rims, the ideal finishing touch to give the car an even more racy air.

The traditional grille dominates the aggressive Quattroporte S’s front end
The Quattroporte S is unmistakably Maserati. The eye is drawn from the classic oval grille and over the imposing bonnet, a feature inspired by the GranTurismo and other great models created by the marque. The black, concave, vertical bars pay homage to an iconic model from the past, the A6 GCS berlinetta, and contrast with the grille’s sleek chrome border. The Maserati trident takes pride of place in the centre.

Modern front headlights track the sleek bodywork
Sitting either side of the grille, the front light assemblies stand out with their striking modern design and render the car even more captivating. The light cluster includes LED day running lights: a stylish and functional feature that makes the car instantly recognisable in any conditions. The light cluster’s vertical sweep merges smoothly with the car’s flanks.

Twin oval tailpipes add to the sporty look
The Maserati Quattroporte S’s innate elegance is enhanced with aesthetic touches that make it unique. The twin steel oval tailpipes provide muscle to the back end, add to the car’s dashing poise and contrast with the rectangular look of the LED light clusters.

Traditional detailing
The car’s exterior looks are a new take on Maserati’s traditional styling, like the triangular C-pillar that sports the oval ‘Saetta’ logo and the refined 19” Tritone rims fitted as standard on the Quattroporte S. The spokes on these special rims resemble those of the Maserati tridente in a show of strength and sophistication.

Interior

Passengers are cocooned in a luxurious and pure interior
The interior of the Maserati Quattroporte S allows occupants the extravagance of a luxurious drive. The dashboard is set out on three levels and is dominated by a broad centre section that adds a renewed sense of space and lightness. In the middle of the dashboard is the large Maserati Touch Control touchscreen that can be used to manage the car’s many entertainment and information systems.

Supple Poltrona Frau® leather combined with prestigious wood
The Quattroporte S’s Poltrona Frau® leather finish has been crafted using the finest Italian traditions and results in an interior that is both comfortable and hardwearing.
In the Quattroporte S, the standard finish to the centre of the dashboard, the centre tunnel and door inserts is elegant briarwood. This prestigious element features open pores and is recognisable for its knots and veining, much sought-after and exclusive characteristics.

Cosy and spacious seats for rear passengers
There is ample space for three in the rear with life on board made more pleasant by the centre armrest that features two stowable cupholders and a USB connection to plug in mobile devices. As an alternative, it is also possible to request two individual heated, ventilated and electronically adjustable seats that share a centre console packed with functions. A relaxing drive is ensured.

SMART, WRAPAROUND SEATS
Occupants will feel at home right away in the ergonomic seats. The vertical patterns that feature on the seat area and seat back are another example of the interior’s refined elegance. The seats can be adjusted electronically to achieve the perfect driving position in terms of height and reach and the seat angles fine tuned.

Technology

The Twin Turbo V6 is both sporty and versatile
The 3-litre Twin Turbo V6 fitted to the Quattroporte S has the Quattroporte GTS V8’s sporty edge; the two units also share most of their components. The bore spec and combustion chamber design are unchanged, as is the technology that controls the valves and direct injection. These refined solutions allow the V6 to develop 301kW (410 HP) at 5500 rpm.

Amazing torque provides exciting acceleration
The versatile V6 unit that equips the Quattroporte S thrills whenever the driver steps on the accelerator, with the power coming through loud and clear. In Sport mode, peak torque is 550 Nm and is reached at just 1750 rpm. These extraordinary figures see the Quattroporte S sprint to 100 km/h (0-62 mph), from a standing start, in only 5.1 seconds (4.9 on the Q4 version). It boasts a top speed of 285 km/h (177mph) (283km/h / 175mph for the Q4).

Q4: intelligent but sporty four-wheel drive
Compactness, lightness and efficiency characterise the Quattroporte S’s Q4 four-wheel drive system. In order to provide the sensations typical of a rear-wheel drive Maserati in low grip conditions, the system continually and intelligently varies the power delivered to all four wheels.

Safety in all conditions
In normal conditions, the Q4 system relays 100% of the torque to the rear wheels but, in low grip conditions, or when the rear end loses grip, drive is sent to the front axle in just 150 milliseconds to balance out the power delivery. This set up ensures that sporty handling is combined with excellent safety levels.

Lighter, more efficient gear changes
The Quattroporte S makes the most of its modern, automatic, 8-speed ZF transmission. Light and precise gear shifts are delivered by the auto-adaptive software that recognises the driver’s style and tweaks the type of shift accordingly. There are five modes to choose from and these can be selected by pushing the tunnel-mounted buttons: Auto Normal, Auto Sport, Manual Normal, Manual Sport and the all-new I.C.E.

Dual-cast brakes
The Brembo brakes on the Quattroporte S were created to optimise weight and guarantee high performance under intensive use. A six-piston monoblock is mounted up front and acts on 360 x 32 mm discs, with four-piston units and 350 x 28 mm discs at the rear. The forged and ventilated discs boast dual-cast technology that unites the benefits of cast iron with lightweight aluminium.

The RLX comes with a rearview camera that automatically produces a display in the center screen when “Reverse” is engaged. There are three separate views, allowing you to select the one that best serves your situation. You can change the views by pressing the center panel’s “Enter” control.

• The normal view is ideal to look for items behind the RLX that are too low to be seen through the rear window.
• The wide angle view shows a 170° view behind the RLX, which is perfect to look for approaching vehicles or pedestrians when backing out of parking spots.
• The top-down view is useful for parallel parking or lining up a trailer hitch.
• When Dynamic Guidelines are activated, the guidelines move according to front wheel angle to help guide your trajectory and judge distances.

Jewel Eye LED Headlights
All RLX models are equipped with Jewel Eye™ LED headlights which provide a whiter, brighter beam than HID or halogen headlights, while using less energy and lasting significantly longer.

• The low beams are comprised of eight LEDs that shine through 16 lenses. Each pair of lenses is precisely aimed to focus the LED beam over a longer and wider surface area, enabling the driver to see the road more clearly, without blinding oncoming traffic.
• The high beams activate and enable you to identify distant objects 200 milliseconds more quickly than conventional lights. At 60 mph, the car will have traveled over 17 feet by that time.
• During the day, the 16 low-beam lenses act as daytime running lights, giving the RLX the same distinctive light signature, both day and night.
• Even when turned off, the reflective surfaces behind the lenses give the lights a bright, jewel-like appearance.

Blind Spot Information System
The RLX is equipped with Acura’s blind spot information system that can assist you when making lane changes.

• If the system detects a vehicle in an adjacent lane in the RLX “alert zone” (approximately from the rear half of the RLX to half a car-length back), an indicator will appear on that side’s windshield pillar, and a display will appear on the MID at the center of the gauge cluster.
• If the driver activates the turn signal in the direction where a vehicle has been detected, the pillar light on the corresponding side will flash, and a buzzer will sound.
• The indicators only light up when the RLX is traveling above 6 mph, so they won’t come on when parking, at stop lights, or in stop-and-go traffic.

Side Mirrors
While side mirrors are often an overlooked component in many cars, in the RLX they’re surprisingly feature-rich.

• Both mirrors are automatically heated when the rear window defogger is activated.
• When reverse is engaged, the mirrors automatically tilt downward to reveal potential obstructions close to the car.
• The power mirrors are among the many components that can automatically move into a preset position when a driver who’s holding a key enters the car.
• The outer quarter of the driver’s mirror is slightly curved outward to give an expanded view to the side of the car.
• The mirror housing contains a thin line of LEDs that light up with the turn signals.
• With the Technology Package, the mirrors will fold alongside the car at the push of a button or can be set to automatically fold when the doors are locked from outside the vehicle.
• With the Advance Package, the mirrors will dim automatically in the evening to prevent reflected headlights from becoming a distraction.

Controls

Key Remote Functions
Despite the handsome design of the RLX key, it’s rarely necessary to remove it from your pocket or purse.

• The door handles will automatically light up as you approach the RLX, starting from about three feet away.
• Upon touching the driver’s door handle, the seats, steering wheel, and side mirrors will automatically move to your previously determined settings. In addition, your presets for radio (AM, FM and SiriusXM), speed dial, and navigation locations (if equipped) will also be activated.
• Once inside, the Multi-Information Display located between the speedometer and tachometer, informs you to start the car by pushing the start button while applying brake pressure.
• When leaving the car, pushing a button on the outer door handle locks the vehicle.
• On a hot day, you can lower all the windows and open the sunroof to cool the car by pressing the unlock button on the remote a second time and holding it as you approach the vehicle.

Front Seats
Acura has long recognized that the greatest level of contact you have with a car is through the seats. Needless to say, extensive attention went into the seats of Acura’s flagship sedan.

• Both front seats have 12-way adjustment, which includes a lumbar support that adjusts up and down, as well as in and out.
• Four distinct levels of softness and firmness are designed into the seats to provide an ideal combination of comfort and support.
• While dual-level heating is standard, the Advance Package provides six levels of personal climate control, including three levels of heating and three of cooling. The seats cool by drawing air across occupants and into the perforations in the leather, allowing you to quickly reach your desired comfort level.
• For supreme convenience, the 2-driver automatic memory system is designed to record preferences for the driver’s seat, steering wheel and side mirror positions.
• The Technology Package covers the seating surfaces with remarkably soft, perforated Milano Leather.

Rear Seats
Using the same packaging techniques it employs on its smaller vehicles, Acura gave the RLX class-leading rear legroom that’s equivalent to most competing brands’ full-size luxury sedans.

• At 38.8 inches, the RLX offers more rear legroom than the Lexus LS, Audi A8 and comes within a tenth of an inch of the Jaguar XJ and BMW 7-Series sedans.
• Rear occupants have their own climate control zone, which they can set with controls behind the front center console.
• Advance Package models are equipped with dual-level heating for the rear outboard seating positions.
• Models equipped with the Krell Audio system provide full-coverage side sun screens on the rear doors and a power rear sun screen.

Storage

Cargo Area
Open the trunk lid, and you’ll find a wide area with a flat floor that easily accommodates large pieces of cargo.

• The RLX provides just under 15 (14.9) EPA-rated square feet of highly usable space with some additional hidden storage under the trunk floor. The model with the Krell Audio system has 14.7 square feet, as some space is devoted to the powerful sub-woofer.
• There are some additional cargo spaces under the trunk floor as well as spaces custom fit for designed to store tools for the flat repair kit and a large warning sign.
• Additional pass-through space behind the rear seat armrest allows the placement of long items such as skis.

Cabin Storage
A luxury car cabin will not feel nearly as luxurious if it’s cluttered with everyday items or if things are difficult to find. That’s why considerable care was taken with the RLX interior to ensure that everything you need at a moment’s notice is within reach.

• The illuminated glove box has a shelf to keep the owner’s manual readily at hand. If you require a larger, undivided space, the shelf can be easily reconfigured.
• The center storage compartment has both a deep bin for large items and a tray near the top for smaller, easily accessible items. The console armrest/storage cover is double-hinged to open either in the direction of the driver or front passenger and can also slide back for ongoing access to the top storage tray.
• Storage areas such as the coin pocket and cup holder have plated knobs that are illuminated at night when closed. When opened, the storage spaces themselves are automatically illuminated.

Controls

Dashboard
The RLX instrument panel takes the Acura interior-design DNA to a whole new level. Supple leather starts at the front door panels, sweeps across the curves of the Acura dual-cove instrument panel, and clothes the center panel controls, surrounding the driver and front passenger in leather.

• There are now two screens in the center: the lower On-Demand Multi-use Display (ODMD) touch screen contains primary controls for audio and climate controls, allowing the main display screen to remain high for at-a-glance viewing and to display information that’s independent from the touch screen.
• The RLX still provides you with physical analog gauges for road and engine speeds, temperature and fuel level.
• The Multi-Information Display (MID) between the speedometer and tachometer can be controlled from the steering wheel to provide a wealth of information from tire pressure to average mpg. On navigation-equipped models, the MID is in full color and can show turn-by-turn navigation directions.
• An all-new, three-spoke steering wheel provides you with a wide array of controls that are easy to distinguish through a combination of buttons, toggles and rotary wheels.
• Additional controls for sunroof, interior lights, and HomeLink® are overhead, yet easily within reach. The HomeLink system lets you conveniently eliminate separate garage or gate remotes by programming their frequencies into one of three buttons.

On Demand Multi-use Display
Acura has long been at the forefront of audio and information technology. But as the number of features have grown, so have the number of buttons on the center panel. The RLX designers, however, devised an intuitively easy way to use a touch screen with all the controls you need at any given time. What could have resulted in over 30 buttons is now a mere nine.

• You no longer have to repeatedly hit a button until your desired function is rotated into place. With nine different audio sources, each one can be accessed directly.
• Each display has a design that best arranges controls for the particular task at hand, so every panel can be quickly understood and operated.
• Every climate control function is instantly accessible with six hard controls as well as six touch-screen controls with a near-permanent presence at the bottom of the control screen.
• A shortcuts screen speeds you to your favorite presets among all audio sources, climate control combinations, navigation locations, or phone speed-dial favorites.
• Another shortcut allows you to disable access to various locations and functions for valet service, including trunk and glove box, as well as navigation, phone and audio controls.
• All the screens can display an instant current status of audio or climate functions while the upper display screen continues undisturbed.

Voice Recognition
In addition to the sophisticated, new touch-screen controls and the versatile steering-wheel controls, the Voice Recognition feature that accompanies the Acura Navigation System10 allows you to perform the most frequently used functions of the audio, climate control, and navigation systems without ever lifting a finger.
With a simple click of the “Talk” steering wheel-mounted control, the audio system will instantly mute as you issue one of 600-plus voice commands to the audio, climate or navigation systems.

• If you come to an unfamiliar information display on the navigation screen, voiced guidance prompts can help you with command choices, and available command choices will be highlighted.
• Some commands can replace multiple manual functions, for example: “CD, song 4”, will turn on the audio system, select CD as an audio source, and play the fourth song.
• You can enter a specific address, as the navigation system will recognize over a million city and street names.
• This is the latest edition of the Voice Recognition system, which Acura has been offering and refining for over a decade.

Keyless Start
The Keyless Access System with Smart Entry and pushbutton ignition allows you to walk up to the RLX, unlock the doors, have the car set your preferences and start the engine without ever having to take the key out of your pocket.

• The vehicle will sense the key remote but will not unlock the door until you touch the handle.
• You can turn the engine and auxiliary controls on and off at the touch of a button.
• If the key fob battery runs out, you can start the engine by pushing the start button and moving the key in front of the pressed start button while depressing the brake pedal.

Safety

Child Safety
The RLX has several features addressing child safety, from sophisticated airbag sensors to anchors that secure child seats.

• All windows and the moonroof have an auto-reverse feature that can reverse their closing if an obstacle is encountered.
• LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) anchors plus upper-tether anchors in the rear seat allow LATCH-compatible child seats to be installed in the outboard positions without the use of seat belts.

Body Structure Design
The RLX was designed with Acura’s latest improvements on the next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure to enhance occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal crashes.

• The ACE™ design utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.
• This enhanced frontal crash energy management helps to reduce the forces transferred to the passenger compartment and can help to more evenly disperse the forces transferred to the other vehicle in a crash.
• The latest generation of ACE includes new energy-channeling structures to protect body integrity when only a small portion of the front end receives the full brunt of a frontal impact.
• This design should help the RLX achieve a “good” rating in the new Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) small overlap frontal crash test.

Braking & Stability

Braking Systems
The RLX features a firm pedal feel with linear response that allows braking to be precisely modulated. The RLX disc brakes are backed up by several sophisticated electronic systems to provide you with enhanced abilities under most circumstances while also providing more comfort during urban driving.

• Press a button on the center console to engage Brake Hold Control, and you will not have to sustain pressure on the brake pedal during long stops at traffic lights or heavy traffic congestion. When you brake to a stop, hold the brake for about a second longer and then release it. The brakes will then hold the car in place until you engage the accelerator pedal.
• The anti-lock braking system (ABS) helps you retain steering control in emergency braking by preventing the wheels from locking up, while still letting them achieve their maximum level of stopping power.
• The RLX conveniently includes an electronic parking brake that can be set by a simple tug on a switch in the center console.
• The Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) system uses the ABS system to direct braking power among the four wheels—depending on the vehicle load—to help optimize braking effectiveness.
• The Brake Assist system detects the driver’s emergency braking by monitoring the speed at which the brake pedal is depressed and stepping in to ensure the ABS system is activated—terminating immediately upon release of the brake pedal.

Vehicle Stability Assist
The Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) system uses an array of sensors along with ABS to minimize the dangers of oversteer or understeer.

• The system continually monitors vehicle speed, throttle position, individual wheel speeds, steering angle, lateral G-force, and yaw rate.
• When the potential for oversteer or understeer is detected, VSA will reduce the engine’s torque and use the VSA modulator to apply brakes to each wheel as needed to help stabilize the vehicle.
• The response is so quick that the instability may be corrected before the driver even knows it’s occurring.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Since an under-inflated tire impedes handling and can be a safety hazard, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) uses pressure sensors mounted in each wheel that send readings to a central electronic control unit. The system then evaluates whether the pressure is up to an acceptable range.

• If a reading is approximately 25% below the recommended level, the RLX will alert the driver through the Multi-Information Display (MID) located on the instrument panel.
• The under-inflated tire will be indicated, along with the individual pressure, for all four tires.
• The pressure display can be accessed anytime using the MID controls on the steering wheel.
• As useful as TPMS is, it is still recommended that you manually check your tires on a regular basis.

Performance

Powertrain

3.5-liter Engine
The RLX is powered by an all-new 3.5-liter, 310-horsepower V-6 engine that features Direct Gas Injection, Variable Cylinder Management™ and the Acura i-VTEC® system.
Intelligent Variable Timing and lift Control (i-VTEC) increases horsepower by advancing valve timing relative to engine rpm. High-rpm airflow is enhanced by opening intake valves longer and deeper at approximately 4500 rpm.

• Variable Cylinder Management significantly improves highway fuel efficiency by automatically changing the V-6 engine to run on six, four or three cylinders, depending on driving conditions. The cylinder activation is seamless and not felt by driver or passengers.
• Direct Gas Injection injects fuel directly into each cylinder with a multi-hole injector for a more precise and effective air fuel mixture. It also uses significantly less fuel when the engine is being started.
• Fuel that is injected directly into the cylinder also has a cooling effect, which allows the power-increasing effects of a higher compression ratio without engine knocking.
• The Drive-by-Wire™ throttle system varies throttle sensitivity to provide the appropriate throttle response and feel to different driving conditions.
• The net result is an engine that produces 310 horsepower at 6500 rpm, 272 lbs.-ft. of torque (SAE net) at 4500 rpm while getting an EPA Fuel Economy Rating of 20 / 31 / 24 mpg(city/highway/combined).

6-Speed Sequential SportShift Automatic
The 6-speed Sequential SportShift automatic with paddle shifters gives you the best of both worlds by providing the convenience of precise and intuitive automatic shifting as well as shift-for-yourself control.

• Set the transmission to “Drive” for smooth gear changes with an emphasis on fuel efficiency. Select “Sport” for quicker acceleration, as the transmission allows the engine to rev higher before up-shifting.
• The steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters deliver quick, precise shifts at your fingertips.
• Tapping a paddle shifter while in “Drive” brings a quick gear change with automatic operation returning when reaching a steady speed. This allows you to make quick gear changes without changing in and out of manual mode.
• Using a paddle shifter in “Sport” puts the transmission into full manual mode, where you’ll have complete control in instances such as high-performance or hilly driving.
• For better climbing or increased downhill engine braking, Grade Logic Control instructs the transmission to hold a lower gear when encountering a steep uphill or downhill grade.

Handling

Suspension System
The remarkable handling performance of the RLX is a result of Acura’s newest double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspensions.

• The front design incorporates a dual lower arm that creates a virtual kingpin at the center of the front wheel’s width to reduce torque steer.
• Anti-dive properties keep the body stable during braking.
• To maintain composure in hard cornering, the rear multi-link design features anti-squat geometry to reduce pitching under acceleration and also isolates springs and dampers from lateral forces.
• All four corners are fitted with Acura’s exclusive Amplitude Reactive Dampers, which feature two piston valves per damper (a.k.a. shock absorber) rather than one. The main valve helps absorb minor road vibration, while the second one is stiffer, reigning in a larger suspension motion for improved stability.
• Thick front and rear stabilizer bars control body roll for flatter cornering.
• Agile Handling Assist uses the active braking components of the Variable Stability Assist system to help the driver maneuver through the desired line of a curve.

Precision All-Wheel Steer
Precision All-Wheel Steer™ (P-AWS) is designed to deliver an unprecedented level of handling precision and control. It’s the first system that enables the rear wheels to adjust toe angles independently of each other. Working in concert with Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®) and the Agile Handling Assist™ dynamic braking system, P-AWS helps enhance vehicle stability, maneuverability, and control.

• The rear wheels can pivot as much as 1.8 degrees in the same direction as the front wheels for smooth, stable and quick lane changes.
• When cornering, the rear wheels angle slightly in the opposite direction from the front wheels (reverse-phase) to help rotate the car into the turn.
• At low speeds, reverse-phase steering helps the RLX maneuver in tight areas.
• In high-speed braking, each rear wheel angles inward, increasing braking ability and stability.

Agile Handling Assist
The Agile Handling Assist system uses the components of the Vehicle Stability Assist™ (VSA®)system to help improve handling. While VSA steps in to brake individual wheels to avoid oversteer or understeer, the Agile Handling Assist uses active braking, usually on an inside wheel to help the driver smoothly and easily trace the desired line through a curve with smaller steering inputs.
