2013 Ford Fiesta

Design

The Fiesta has no qualms about standing out, starting with its sleek front end, featuring distinctive dragon’s-eye headlamps. A razor-slash side panel highlights the car’s cut-and-run stance, while the upswept rear end makes it look like it’s ready to launch. Available ambient lighting and available bright metallic accents create a radiant glow that surrounds the interior, and unique exterior colors emphasize its effervescent personality. But Fiesta is more than sporty good looks – there’s also smart storage space for everything from your MP3 player to tents and backpacks.

A Cool and Comfortable Interior
When you take your seat in Fiesta, you’re greeted by an intuitive center console, soft-touch materials and available painted metallic accents. If you like, you can equip Fiesta with available leather-trimmed seats with contrast piping. In fact, Fiesta has the most available material color selections in its class.

Kinetic Exterior
The Fiesta front end is low-slung, with an aerodynamic look and piercing dragon’s-eye headlamps. LED supplemental parking lamps provide a distinctive glow, while the unique razor-slash side panel accentuates the cut-and-run stance. When combined with the upswept rear end, the net result is obvious: The Fiesta is ready to spring into action.

Unique Colors – Inside and Out
Unique colors surround the Fiesta, inside and out. The Fiesta offers nine exterior paint color options, including two premium paints: Yellow Blaze Metallic Tri-coat and Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat. On the inside, Fiesta has the most available material color selections in its class. That includes available leather-trimmed seats with contrast piping, which come in Plum Red or Cashmere with Charcoal Black piping or Charcoal Black with Cashmere piping. You choose.

Interior Storage Space
Whether it’s people or gear you want to move, the Fiesta is designed to fit your lifestyle. The Fiesta Hatch gives you easy access to the cargo area, and all models have rear seats that easily fold down, providing versatile storage on demand. The storage compartments in the Fiesta were also designed to accommodate everyday items: cupholders that fit different-sized bottles and containers, slots to hold your MP3 player, and even a place to stash those toll tickets

Covert Aerodynamics
There are several obvious features that help improve vehicle aerodynamics, such as body style, sculpture and a decklid spoiler. But the Fiesta also has some not-so-obvious design and engineering features that minimize air resistance and increase fuel efficiency. These include grille blanking to reduce the lower grille opening, aero-shaped body-mounted mirrors and a line cut into the rear taillamps. Camouflaging aerodynamic details with style is one more way the Fiesta thrills.

Versatile Hatch or Sedan
Whether you choose the hatch or sedan, you’ll see how seamlessly form and functionality go together. Both vehicles boast impressive interior storage volume in addition to sporty good looks.

Assembly and Materials
Soft-touch materials and durable, tailored-looking seat fabrics help provide a calm and comforting environment. Hidden details include a standard acoustic-laminate windshield, double-layered door seals and expandable foam baffles in the pillars to help keep the noise at bay. Tight-fitting body panels and a low, flexible chin spoiler under the front bumper help reduce wind turbulence. The body panels have also been engineered specifically to help resist long-term squeaks and rattles, while Ford engineering advancements to the engine isolation systems help keep sound levels low.

Performance

Fuel-efficient – as in unsurpassed-in-its-class hwy mpg – and fun, the 2013 Fiesta is both. The Fiesta SE with the SFE Package delivers 40 mpg hwy.2 Its sporty performance comes courtesy of the 1.6L Ti-VCT Duratec® I-4 engine and class-exclusive,available dual dry-clutch PowerShift six-speed automatic transmission. Combined with the Ford-tuned suspension, electric power-assisted steering and AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control, Fiesta provides an agile and exhilarating experience. One that you’ll love.

Super Fuel-Efficient – 40 Hwy Mpg
The SFE Package includes aerodynamic features that minimize air resistance and help Fiesta deliver unsurpassed-in-its-class hwy mpg. The package includes side air deflectors, underbody shields and blockers on the lower grille. The package also includes a spoiler and 15-inch steel wheels.

1.6L Ti-VCT Duratec® I-4 Engine
With 120 horsepower and 112 lb.-ft. of torque, the standard 1.6-liter twin independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT) Duratec® I-4 engine is engineered for quick sprints. The engine block is high-pressure die-cast aluminum for strength and light weight. Twin independent variable cam timing allows the camshafts to operate both intake and exhaust valves at different times in the combustion cycle, based on speed and load. And to further lessen weight, the intake manifold is manufactured from a composite.

Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) and AdvanceTrac® Stability Control
Standard features such as electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) and AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control (ESC) contribute to the responsive driving experience in the Fiesta. EPAS uses speed-sensitive steering and active nibble control technology, which actively detects and minimizes undesirable rotational vibration, to help provide feedback and confidence at highway speeds. AdvanceTrac ESC automatically applies the brakes and modulates engine torque whenever it detects wheelslip. Skidding and fishtailing are avoided by controlling understeer and oversteer. Additionally, AdvanceTrac ESC helps maintain control under conditions such as ice, gravel or rain, providing confident stopping power.

Available PowerShift Six-Speed Automatic
It’s about performance, it’s about fun. The available class-exclusive dual dry-clutch PowerShift six-speed automatic delivers performance and fuel efficiency2 similar to that of a manual transmission, plus the shift quality and ease of operation provided by an automatic transmission. Engine torque is delivered to the drive wheels 100 percent of the time for an extra-connected feel. Hill start assist provides improved drivability on steep inclines. The neutral idle mode helps eliminate drag and contributes to fuel efficiency. As for maintenance – none is required. Fill-for-life transmission fluid requires no dipstick and is designed to last up to 150,000 miles.

Ford-Tuned Suspension
With a standard MacPherson-strut front suspension, 22 mm front sway bar and twist-beam rear suspension, the 2013 Fiesta is ready to deliver excitement around every corner. Its standard electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) system is Ford-tuned to offer refined overall driving dynamics. It works with a software-based technology called active nibble control to actively detect and minimize undesirable rotational vibration experienced by drivers, particularly while driving at highway speeds. This means that with the Fiesta, taking on straightaways will be a smooth affair.

Ambient and Exterior Lighting
Dragon’s-eye headlamps, pure-white available lower LED supplemental parking lamps and available side-mirror turn indicators create a glow that surrounds the Fiesta. Available ambient lighting illuminates the interior with color, in both the front and rear footwells. It also lights the cupholders, which makes them easier to locate when you’re driving at night. The driver or front-seat passenger can select from one of seven colors: red, blue, purple, orange, aqua, white or yellow-green. The choice is yours.

Available Heated Front Seats
The Fiesta offers available leather-trimmed seats. If you like, you can add heated front seats to keep you warm on the coldest winter day. Heated front seats are also available with cloth seats in the SE models.

Easy Fuel® Capless Fuel Filler
Fiesta has no gas cap to leave your hands dirty and smelly. The standard class-exclusive Easy Fuel® capless fuel filler features an integrated spring-loaded door that allows you to simply insert the fuel nozzle to fill up. And because Easy Fuel automatically seals after the fuel nozzle is removed, fewer evaporative emissions are released into the environment.

Safety

There are some features in the 2013 Fiesta we hope you never have to use. But if you do need them, they are there to help protect you. Fiesta has a safety cage constructed using boron – a chemical element known for hardness and toughness – plus seven standard airbags. To help you avoid a collision, Fiesta is equipped with AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control (ESC), and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to alert you when your tire pressure falls below the recommended level.

Seven Standard Airbags
The Fiesta comes with seven standard airbags and is the first in its class to offer a driver’s knee airbag. This airbag inflates between the driver’s knees and the instrument panel to help provide protection in a crash. Extending through both rows of seats are also side-curtain airbags. They feature roll-fold technology, which is designed to inflate between the window glass and passenger’s head. This helps keep the curtain against the glass and offers head protection in side impacts for all outboard seating positions. In fact, when combined with the front-seat side airbags, the side-curtain airbags help provide protection for both head and chest in certain side-impact collisions. Side-curtain airbags will not interfere with a properly installed child-safety seat or booster seat.

Safety Cage Reinforced With Boron Steel
Thanks to boron, a strong and tough element used in the aerospace industry, the safety cage in Fiesta is incredibly strong to help provide protection in the areas you need it most.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
Your tire pressure affects ride comfort, safety and fuel economy. That’s why Fiesta comes equipped with a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System to help you keep your tires inflated to proper levels.

AdvanceTrac® Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
AdvanceTrac® ESC automatically applies the brakes and modulates engine torque whenever it detects wheelslip, and helps avoid skidding and fishtailing by controlling understeer and oversteer. It also helps maintain control under conditions such as ice, gravel or rain, providing more confident stopping power.

Rain-Sensing Wipers
When activated, rain-sensing wipers use an advanced optical sensor to detect the intensity of rain and/or snowfall to adjust wiper speed. They automatically go on when moisture is sensed. Rain-sensing wipers are one of the many standard amenities you’ll find in the Flex Limited model.

Rear View Camera
The Rear View Camera automatically displays an image of what’s behind you on the center dash panel when you put the gearshift selector in reverse. It also displays red, yellow and green guides that line up with the white lines of a parking space, helping to guide you in. It’s available on Flex SEL and standard on the Flex Limited.

Active Park Assist
Active park assist is designed to take the dread out of parallel parking. It uses ultrasonic sensors, unlike other systems that use imaging devices. Simply press a button and the sensors locate a parking space. Once a spot is selected, Flex parks into place with a few simple steps on your part. Active park assist is an available feature on the Flex Limited model.

Smart

Ford designers create features that do more than just make sense. They use advanced technology to make them smart. Conventional cruise control makes sense. But offering adaptive cruise control that can detect when traffic ahead is slowing down and automatically slows you down, then later resumes your set speed – that’s smart. And that’s not all. Available BLIS® with cross-traffic alert uses sensors to detect a vehicle traveling in your blind spot or crossing behind you when you’re slowly backing up. There are also available inflatable 2nd-row safety belts that help reduce the risk of injury while providing support to the head and neck. These and other smart technologies — now available on the 2013 Flex.

AdvanceTrac® with RSC®
Standard AdvanceTrac® with Roll Stability Control™ (RSC®) uses gyroscopic sensors to measure both vehicle roll and turning rates. Corner too quickly or swerve to avoid an object and RSC applies brake pressure and reduces engine power to help keep you under control. And it all happens in the time it takes to blink an eye. Flex offers trailer sway control that works with RSC to determine if the trailer is swaying. If necessary, trailer sway control applies precise braking or adjusted engine torque to help bring both vehicle and trailer under control. Trailer sway control is included in the Class III Trailer Tow Package, available on SEL and Limited models.

BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert
Ford offers advanced technology in the available BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with cross-traffic alert to help make driving more convenient. BLIS uses radar in the rear quarter panels to identify a vehicle entering your blind spot and alerts you with an indicator light in the sideview mirror. Cross-traffic alert also uses radar to watch for traffic behind you when you’re slowly backing out of a parking spot or your driveway. If it detects a vehicle approaching from up to 15 yards away, it sends an audible warning, an indicator light flashes in the sideview mirror, and a message displays in the message center. BLIS® with cross-traffic alert is available on the Flex SEL model and is standard on the Flex Limited.

Inflatable 2nd-Row Safety Belts
Available in all Flex models, the industry-exclusive inflatable 2nd-row safety belts help distribute crash force energy across more of the torso area than a traditional belt, which helps reduce the risk of injury while providing support to the head and neck. In the event of a frontal or side crash, the inflatable safety belts hold the passenger in the appropriate seating position, helping to reduce risk of injury. These safety belts are compatible with child safety seats. In consumer tests, most respondents said the inflatable rear safety belts felt similar or softer and more comfortable than conventional safety belts. This can help encourage safety belt usage.

ACC and Collision Warning with Brake Support
Adaptive Cruise Control functions just like normal cruise control, but with one exception: When its sensors detect traffic slowing ahead, your vehicle also slows down. And when traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes the set speed. Collision Warning with Brake Support can alert you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you. A “heads-up” display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield. If you don’t react in time, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you brake. Available on the Flex Limited.

All-Wheel Drive
Driving in bad weather can be downright unnerving. But don’t worry. Flex offers Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The beauty of AWD is that it doesn’t just react to wheel slippage when it occurs, but anticipates it. AWD continuously monitors vehicle and driver inputs, predicts traction, and automatically delivers the precise amount of engine torque needed to all the wheels — even before slippage occurs. AWD is an option with the 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 engine. It’s included on models powered by the available 3.5L EcoBoost® V6.

Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start
It’s a breeze entering your Flex and starting the engine, thanks to the available Intelligent Access with Push-Button Start feature. Simply have the Intelligent Access key in your pocket or purse near the driver’s side door. (The system senses when the key is nearby.) Then touch the door handle to unlock the driver’s side door or all the doors. Once inside, just press the brake pedal and then the start button. Shift into gear and go.

Easy Fuel® Capless Fuel Filler
The standard Easy Fuel® capless fuel filler has an integrated spring-loaded flapper door that lets you simply insert the fuel nozzle to fill up. No screw cap is required. And because Easy Fuel automatically seals after the fuel nozzle is removed, fewer evaporative emissions are released into the environment.

MyKey®
MyKey® technology, standard in every Flex, lets you program individual keys so that two members of a household can share a car, yet have personalized settings take effect when they use their unique keys. MyKey is designed to help parents encourage teenagers to drive safely. It lets you to designate a key to operate special features, such as restricting the vehicle’s top speed to 65, 70, 75 or 80 mph and limiting the entertainment system’s audio to 44 percent of maximum volume. It also provides a warning when the fuel tank reaches 75 miles to empty, allows the owner to select speed alert chimes at 45, 55 or 65 mph, and sets the Belt-Minder® to chime, while muting the audio system, until the safety belt is buckled.
