Golf R unique instrument cluster
The Golf R was designed with just the right amount of enthusiast love. An example is the unique instrument cluster precisely placed and featuring blue needles with clear lighting.

Multi-function sport steering wheel
Both hands will want some of this action. It’s leather-wrapped, controls your music, and can access information such as average trip speed and miles to empty. It even has a flat bottom to help make getting in and out of the Golf R super easy.

Top sport seats with leather seating surfaces
With all that power just waiting to be unleashed, you’ll be glad these seats are as sporty as they look. They’ve got extra-supportive side bolsters that will hug you as tightly as the Golf R hugs curves. They also come with eight-way adjustability to boot.

Six-speed manual transmission
Besides making driving more fun, this six-speed joystick helps allow for quicker shifts and controls a 256-hp engine with a massive amount of torque.

R tuned 2.0L TSI® engine
Step on the pedal and this hyper-tuned beast will launch from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds¹. Its turbocharged engine has a reinforced all-aluminum block that’s specially tuned and has 256 hp and 243 lbs/ft of torque, standard. That makes it the fastest production VW in the USA.

Enhanced sport suspension
The Golf R has a sport suspension that’s been designed to embrace the spirit of the open road. You’ll feel the road, the car, and how you’re connected to it all.

Dual center exhaust
The dual center exhaust enhances engine flow for more power and helps contribute to the Golf R’s unique engine sound. Plus, it’s the part of the Golf R that other drivers will see as you leave them in the dust. And it’s always nice to say goodbye in style.

4MOTION® all-wheel-drive system
This highly evolved four-wheel-drive system is always engaged. Sensors detect which tires have more traction, and automatically send extra power to those tires.The system is able to direct nearly 100 percent of available torque to the rear wheels for optimal traction on more challenging surfaces.

Safety

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
If you’ve ever been in a situation where you have to swerve around something unexpectedly, you’ll appreciate ESC. It helps adjust for oversteer or understeer by applying corrective forces to each of the wheels.

Crash-optimized front end
Built right into the front of your Golf R are impact-absorbing elements that help absorb energy from a front-end collision. Which helps keep an impact from impacting you.

Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS)
The Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) helps you after a collision by unlocking the doors, turning off power to the fuel pump, and turning on the hazard lights.

Six airbags including Side Curtain Protection
Nobody wants to think about what happens in an accident. Except for our safety engineers. That’s why there’s standard driver and passenger front airbags, front side airbags, and Side Curtain Protection in the Golf R. And all that adds up to smarter, safer protection for you.

ABS with HBA
The ABS system features large calipers and rotors for enhanced performance braking, helping you retain control over the steering during emergency braking. HBA works with ABS to help ensure that you get maximum braking power from the brake system even if you don’t press the brakes completely.

Bluetooth® technology
Once you get your hands on the wheel of the Golf R, it’ll be hard to take them off. So don’t. This system lets you make phone calls, access your phone book, and stream your music from a Bluetooth-enabled device, without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

Once you have it, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without one. It lets you easily navigate your playlists, albums, and songs all through the intuitive touchscreen interface on your stereo.

Power folding hardtop convertible with sunroof
It’s all about the convertible. The automatic folding hardtop complete with sunroof and heated rear glass window. The one that disappears into the trunk in just 25 seconds. That magical tractor beam of design and engineering that makes you turn your head every time you see one drive by. Just think, if you were driving an Eos, you’d have 360 degrees of visibility to spot all the other Eos drivers. And then quietly nod and smile.

Bi-Xenon™ Headlights with LED daytime running lights
Brighter than halogen or regular filament bulbs, the optional Bi-Xenon™³ headlights provide light by creating an arc of electricity inside a bulb filled with xenon gas. It’s so effective that both the low and the high beams can use the same bulb. The Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS) comes standard with the Bi-Xenon headlights and actually turns the headlight up to 15 degrees around corners, helping you to effectively see into the future.

Rear LED lights
The rear markers, brake lights and turn signal lights are all illuminated using light-emitting diodes. LEDs illuminate almost instantly, use less energy, and last significantly longer than standard light bulbs.

Exterior signal mirrors
In any relationship, communication is key. And the road is full of relationships between you and other drivers. Using the built-in turn signals on your side mirrors offers one more way to help people around you to see where you’re going. Plus, every time you turn your signal on, you’re alerting everyone to your intended next move, which can help prevent collisions.

 
Hot wax flooding
Before we put the sheet metal on your Eos, we put it through a treatment that we pioneered called hot wax flooding to fill any tiny spaces and remove moisture in the hardest to reach areas. The result of that process helps make the frame so watertight that we’re able to offer a 12-year limited warranty against corrosion perforation. We call that one of the best warranties in the business. You’ll probably call it peace of mind.

Leather seating surfaces
One touch of the available supple Vienna leather seating surfaces and you’ll never go back. Rich European leather on those gorgeous bucket seats. Some things were just meant to be.

Heated front seats
Because we know you’ll spend a lot of time in your Eos, its seats are all about comfort. Not only do they have three degrees of warmth for you to enjoy, they’re also bolstered for extra cushioning around corners. Plus the driver’s seat has the option of eight-way adjustability, including lumbar support, to make sure that your drive is a comfortable one, no matter how long it may be.

Self-dimming rearview mirror
When turned on, the available self-dimming mirror helps detect bright lights behind your Eos and dims to aid visibility. Cooler yet, the mirror can detect when you put your car into reverse and lightens up to help you see what’s behind you. It sounds simple, but when you’re driving it makes all the difference.

Multi-function steering wheel
Go ahead, grip the multi-function steering wheel. Doesn’t that feel nice? This steering wheel comes with integrated controls for easy access to the entertainment system and your Bluetooth connection. It’s your connection to the road, your car, and so much more.

Climatronic® dual-zone climate control
You’d think that regulating temperature would be simple. But sometimes you’re too cold and your passenger’s too warm. Or vice versa. Which is precisely why we give you the option of dual climate control. Because comfort is personal. So we let you personalize your comfort in almost every way.

Performance

Electromechanical steering system
The electromechanical steering system is one of the main reasons that Volkswagen cars have earned the reputation for sporty, dynamic steering. Compared to the more conventional hydraulic system, electromechanical steering is much more consistent and environmentally conscious because it doesn’t produce any waste or require any fluids that need to be replaced. It also helps reduce fuel consumption², by only drawing energy from the engine during turning, meaning it essentially turns off while driving in a straight line. Sometimes the details make all the difference.

4-corner independent suspension
Some suspensions are linked, which means when your left wheel reacts to a pothole, your right wheel makes a similar motion. The 4-corner independent suspension, all those little inconsistencies in the road will have less of an impact on you, your passengers, and the way your Eos handles. That’s engineering that focuses on the road, so you can focus on enjoying the drive.

6-speed DSG® transmission with Tiptronic
Since the Eos comes standard with a turbocharged engine, we thought you’d appreciate the option of a six-speed DSG® automatic transmission with Tiptronic® as well. That means you can push the gearshift into Tiptronic mode and enjoy the imperceptibly fast gear changes as you shift gears yourself. Or you can kick it into Sport mode and enjoy enhanced acceleration at a simple pump of the gas pedal. There’s nothing like having a little power to go with your performance.

2.0L TSI® engine
The award-winning 2.0L TSI® engine is tuned to have a broad, flat torque curve with a nice, wide power band. If you’re not sure what that means, step on the gas when the light turns green. That’ll tell you all you need to know.

FSI® Direct Injection Technology
The engine in the Eos comes with FSI® that precisely directs atomized fuel into the combustion chamber of each cylinder. What does that all mean? Well, it significantly increases the efficiency of the engine compared to conventional injection engines. And that equals lower emissions and more power. It also gives you a few more victory laps around the city before you stop for gas.

Safety

Crash-optimized front end
Integrated right into the front structure of your Eos are impact-absorbing elements that allow for compression during a collision. That means the energy from the impact is absorbed by the car, which helps minimize the amount of energy that reaches you.

Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS)
After the airbags have been deployed in a collision, the Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) automatically unlocks all doors, turns off power to the fuel pump and turns on the hazard lights. That’s why we call it intelligent. Because it’s looking out for you when you need it most.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
You know when you have to swerve around something unexpectedly? Well, ESC helps prevent oversteer or understeer during an evasive maneuver by applying corrective forces to each of the wheels. And that helps you engage in proper counter-steering, thereby working with your VW to correct the problem. As for the thing that made you swerve, here’s to that happening only once in a blue moon.

Airbag Protection System
Every Eos comes with four airbags standing guard, including mounted side airbags that help serve as head and thorax protection for both driver and passenger. And that’s on top of the rollover protection system.

Automatic Rollover Support System
Underneath the head restraints in the back seat are two hidden steel beams. They’re pneumatically deployed as soon as a rollover situation is detected. Just like airbags, they deploy lightning fast and are designed to help minimize the risk of injury in the event of a rollover.

Technology

Touchscreen navigation
Just in case you forget where you’re going, we gave you the option of two navigation systems to help guide you to your destination. Plus, the top-of-the-line navigation system comes with a three-month trial subscription to Sirius Traffic™, 30GB of storage, and CD- and DVD-playing capabilities just in case you want to stop and relax along the way.

Bluetooth® Technology
Not only does Bluetooth let you answer the phone wirelessly, it also lets you make calls wirelessly using the voice command feature. Once your Bluetooth-compatible phone is synched with your Eos, it automatically uploads your phonebook. All you do is push a button, say a name, and Bluetooth does the rest for you.
